We do not have the strength to withstand both Mordor and Isengard. Saruman is coming for the Ring.Įlrond: This evil cannot be concealed by the power of the Elves. An army that can move in sunlight and cover great distance at speed. He's breeding an army in the caverns of Isengard. By foul craft, Saruman has crossed Orcs with goblin men. Gandalf: His treachery runs deeper than you know. ![]() And Saruman, you tell me, has betrayed us. Sauron's forces are massing in the East his eye is fixed on Rivendell. We can ask no more of Frodo.Įlrond: Gandalf, the enemy is moving. Gandalf: It is a burden he should never have had to bear. He will carry it the rest of his life.Įlrond: And yet, to have come so far, still bearing the Ring, the Hobbit has shown extraordinary resilience to its evil. Gandalf: That wound will never fully heal. For the time will soon come when Hobbits will shape the fortunes of all. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable. But then something happened that the Ring did not intend. Rumor grew of a shadow in the East, whispers of a nameless fear, and the Ring of Power perceived. Darkness crept back into the forests of the world. For five hundred years it poisoned his mind and in the gloom of Gollum's cave, it waited. The ring gave to Gollum unnatural long life. The ring came to the creature Gollum, who took it deep into the tunnels under the Misty Mountains, and there it consumed him. Until, when chance came, the ring ensnared a new bearer. And for two and a half thousand years, the ring passed out of all knowledge. And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. And the ring of power has a will of its own. The Ring passed to Isildur, who had this one chance to destroy evil forever, but the hearts of men are easily corrupted. And Sauron, enemy of the free peoples of Middle-Earth, was defeated. It was in this moment, when all hope had faded, that Isildur, son of the king, took up his father's sword. Victory was near, but the power of the ring could not be undone. A last alliance of men and elves marched against the armies of Mordor, and on the very slopes of Mount Doom, they fought for the freedom of Middle-Earth. One by one, the free peoples of Middle Earth fell to the power of the Ring. And into this ring he poured all his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret, a master ring, to control all others. But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made. For within these rings was bound the strength and the will to govern over each race. ![]() ![]() And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power. Seven, to the Dwarf Lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. Three were given to the Elves immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings.
